"Don't let the pot boil like that."
"What? C'mon, Serah's hungry! If it boils it'll cook faster!"
"Maybe. But it'll be too dry."
"Tch, how do you know? How many times have you made stew?"
"I don't have to have made it myself. I've eaten it often enough."
"Yeah, well, so have I!"
Serah smiles as she rests on the couch, Right now, the most important people in Serah's life are arguing over cooking. Cooking, of all things - neither of them really know how to cook, and yet there it is.
She doesn't mean that as an insult, really. Serah knows how to cook, but that's because Lightning was always busy with work and someone had to do it; she doesn't really have a talent for it. She could just make simple things, but that kept her and her sister fed.
Still. Snow and Lightning still bicker a lot, but their fights lack the venom that they'd once had, before everything had changed. Serah never thought she'd be glad for everything that had happened for such a trivial reason. It's still made their lives far more difficult - they're all helping the survivors carve out their settlement on Gran Pulse, and everyone's still afraid that the surviving Pulse fal'Cie will eventually wipe them out. But it's almost worth it, to see Snow and Lightning getting along so well.
Still, she can tell that Lightning is right that time; they should let the meat simmer. Her leg still hurts from her fall - not her fault, Sazh had ensured her, the chocobo had made a misstep, they'd both be fine in a few days - but she stands up anyway, and makes her way to their makeshift kitchen to give them a few pointers. She appreciates what they're trying to do, she really does - she just wants to make sure that they can all enjoy whatever they end up cooking.
