Multiamory March drabbles, #11 - #15

#11: Hope
(FFVI, Terra/Locke/Celes)

“But what will happen to Terra?”

Terra turns, looks at Celes. Her voice is as cool as ever, but she knows her well, and hears the worry there. Locke is beside her, his mouth closed tightly and his brow furrowed; feelings are the one thing he’s terrible at hiding.

She can’t comfort them; she’s terrified too. They’d talked about going back to Mobliz together after this was over, but what if she did disappear? What would happen to them, and to her children?

But she has to hope she’ll survive this. The alternative for them - for the world - is unthinkable.

#12: Memories
(FFVI, Terra/Locke/Celes)

Terra’s alive!

She’s laughing, her hair loose and windblown, and you can see the weight falling from her shoulders. You were so afraid she’d be lost, but she’s alive. She’s won.

Locke is beside you, and he’s laughing too. You don’t join them - you’re too exhausted to laugh - but you are smiling. You are happy, for the first time in too long.

He gestures towards her, trying to speak over the wind, asking if you both should join her. You shake your head, hold up a finger, mouth “later.” There’ll be time now.

You’ll always remember this moment.

#13: Future
(MCU, Steve/Sam/Bucky/Natasha)

None of you coddle Bucky. He’d never appreciated it, even when he’d caught influenza in the early thirties. But the three of you all do what you can to keep him going.

His eyes were dead when you’d finally found him; even Natasha was shocked, and you’d thought she’d seen everything. Sam’s objections to helping him vanished too, when he saw the lost look on his face.

"I know that look," he told you later, when Bucky couldn’t hear. "That’s a man who doesn’t think he has a future."

You nodded. You understand, too well. “Let’s make sure he will.”

#14: Daring
(FFVII, Zack/Various)

People called Zack daring, or more often foolish, when they found out about his romantic life.

He seriously didn’t understand the heat that he got. So what if he thought that loving more than one person at a time was okay? As long as everybody he was dating were cool, hey, no problem! Right? It wasn’t like he’d ever look down on anyone for deciding they weren’t; not everyone was wired like him.

It shouldn’t be anyone’s business anyway... well, besides his dates’. But the ones who’d stuck with him were okay with it, and that was what really counted.

#15: Panic
(MCU, Tony/Pepper/Rhodey)

Tony’s panic started quietly: dreams about the wormhole sometimes, night terrors that woke him up cold and left him reaching for Pepper to make sure she was still there. When they tell Rhodey about it, he asks about PTSD, and other questions that Tony didn’t think he had time to think about. Too busy saving the world, right?

It wasn’t until the first attack, over a dozen suits and more nightmares later, that he started believing there might really be something wrong. But even then, he couldn’t reach out. Too damn proud.

He’s grateful they didn’t give up on him.
