Magus had been searching for his sister for a very long time.

Is this what she would have wanted from him? He tried not to think about that, but sometimes the thought slipped in, and he couldn't help but entertain it. Would his sister have wanted him to search for her? Or would she have wanted him to go back and rebuild their home, after it had fallen? Would that have been better, in the end?

Would that have changed the past? He still didn't fully understand what happened to the world when something changed, but he knew that it was possible to change things. Maybe, if he had gone back to Terra after Zeal had fallen, he could have become the prince of a great empire. He could have resurrected Zeal in some small measure, and in doing so, saved hundreds from dying in the frozen wastes. Schala would have liked that, he thought.

It was tempting. But he couldn't bring himself to give up the search. She was out there somewhere, and he had to find her. He would find a way to rebuild the world, and he'd make sure that she was with him.
