Cloud didn't have any makeup that time. His cheeks were red enough anyway.
He stepped out of his room, purple silk trailing behind him. He still couldn't believe that Tifa had kept the dress. Or that she'd sent it to Yuffie, and not even to him directly. What had she thought she was going to do, laugh for a while and then forget about it? If that was close to what she'd thought, she hadn't known Yuffie at all. "Okay, I'm done. Have at it."
Yuffie's grin was threatening to overtake her entire face. "You really dressed up like that?"
"Yes, I did," Cloud said - hadn't he already said it once? He was trying not to sound cross, but the ridiculous frilly underwear was a bit tighter around the waist than he remembered. Maybe he needed to start his old workout regimen again, if he could remember it.
She hopped cheerfully down from her perch, looking him over. "It's definitely your color," she said, grinning. She reached up and adjusted the wig slightly - Cloud frowned, but it did feel more comfortable when she was done. When had she learned to adjust wigs? "There's gotta be a good story behind this! Tifa didn't really tell me anything."
Tifa must've done that on purpose. She and Barret had probably had a good chuckle about it. "It's really not a big deal," he said, looking away.
"Of course it's not! You're not the first guy I've seen dressed up. You're not even the prettiest!" She paused for a moment. "You're still the handsomest, though."
"People dress up in drag here?" he asked, surprised.
"Well, yeah. You'd know that if you didn't keep mysteriously disappearing before my old man drags me off to watch a play." She shook her head.
His cheeks started to cool down a bit as he relaxed. Yuffie wasn't looking at him like a freak - maybe she was amused, but when wasn't she? "Maybe I'll stick around for the next one," he said, with a small smile.
"You'd better." She took his hand. "And if I can find a suit, maybe you can wear the dress!"
He couldn't tell whether or not she was joking.
