That really sounds like an introvert / extrovert split, with Ebb being introverted and Flow being extroverted. Except that opposites attract, so each would tend to seek out the other.
Maybe it's not a "visible" mark at all. Maybe it's more of a feeling. I mean, she's got to be picking up something there.

Depends on how much the world has changed, and how. Customs relating to things that are still there, or where a similar thing has arisen, are probably still relevant. But others are pointless, like "Don't do X on Holiday That Nobody Celebrates Anymore."
