When Sazh had looked in Jihl's eyes, he'd dreamed of starting over.

Maybe it'd been silly, but he'd been lonely, and he wasn't exactly young anymore. Maybe he was entitled to be silly sometimes. She'd seemed to respect him, and not just because of the job. Dajh got along with her well, and she genuinely cared about his welfare. That was the most important thing, right?

He'd hoped they'd find a way to fix this, and Dajh could be saved. And then he'd tell her everything, and they could be together, a real family.

Yeah. He'd been a real fool.
