personalapocalypseI know that few of you are interested in this fandom, so I'll be brief.
My opinion: All four of the quadrants are valuable. None of them are less valuable than the other. So when I see comments that, say, a couple that goes from pale to flushed has somehow ascended or improved, it bugs me.
The relationship has not improved because it flipped quadrants. Maybe the people involved will be happier in that quadrant, but that's NOT the same thing. There is a difference between saying that one type of relationship is better suited for two characters (or three, you know, depending on the quadrant) and saying that one type of relationship is intrinsically better than the other!
There's this attitude that conciliatory relationships are somehow less than the others, and I just. I'm sorry, but no. Just because you don't lust after someone doesn't mean that your relationship with them isn't important to you. Likewise I do see a bit of it in the other direction - that moirails who become, say, flushed for each other are somehow cheapening their relationship - and it's not any more true in that direction either. The relationship hasn't been tarnished or cheapened. It has simply changed, and whether or not that change is for better or for worse is something that is going to depend on the characters involved (and probably on the skill of the fan(s) involved.)
