Fandom Snowflake Challenge 2013, Day 8

Day 8

In your own space, talk about setting yourself a fannish goal. Big or small, it doesn't matter. Some examples: complete a bingo, sign up for a Big Bang, write that fic you've been thinking about for years, podfic that story that you love, make a fanmix for your fandom, post that bit of meta or reclist you keep putting off. Maybe resolve to be better at leaving feedback or answering comments. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I have so many, but these are the first that came to mind.

1. Go through my incomplete works (or what I have left of them) and decide whether or not I'm going to try to work on them. Delete or archive the ones that I'm not going to keep working on. I'm sure it will do nothing but help me to see a less-extensive list of fics waiting for me in the wings.

2. Sign up for and finish a big bang already. I've yet to finish a single one that I signed up for - I always end up reaching the word limit but having way too much of the story left to feel comfortable. And that's not what I want. I want to be able to start a story and then finish it on a relatively tight deadline. I feel like that's an important skill for me to learn!

3. Practice with fanart. Make the jump from having to have a picture in front of me to constantly refer to, to actually being able to draw lineart from my own imagination. I have no idea how to start with this goal, but it's definitely on my want-to-do list.

I know from past experience that I'll probably end up finishing a few shorter ones (or cutting them short in order to finish them), deleting fewer, and keeping the rest in the vain hope that I WILL finish them someday. But it's still nice to look back and organize my old stuff and maybe find a few things I could finish!
