Rydia has daydreamed about kissing them both. At first it was just a way to try to convince herself that she liked one better than the other, but it's evolved into something else, now.
It's because she's daydreamed about them so often that she can't really compare them, because in her mind their kisses would be completely different. Edge's kisses are wild and quick in her mind, a little like a forest fire, and he usually tries to pin her against a wall or push her down on a table if she lets him, and then he doesn't stop kissing her until she's completely breathless and ready to let him do anything he wants. Kain's kisses, on the other hand, are cold and unyielding at first, and she's the one who has to push him and hold him down, sitting in his lap and wrapping her arms around him and kissing him over and over again, melting the wall of self-accusation and shame and wounded armor until finally, finally, he's free of all of it and ready to tangle one ungloved hand in her hair and kiss her the way she kisses him.
She's turned both scenarios over and over in her mind, and she can't decide which one she likes better. In fact, she finds that she'd rather have them both.
Then, one day, she slips into a secluded chamber to practice a new incantation and catches them kissing each other. And it's a bit startling to watch them, because it's not how she imagined that either of them would kiss. It's almost... gentle, a moment of peace in a tempest, and she finds herself smiling at how silly she'd been.
She must've made some sort of sound too, though, because Edge breaks the kiss and turns his head to look at her so fast she's not sure how he doesn't get whiplash. It takes Kain a little bit longer to react, but eventually he turns to look at her too, and she has two pairs of of wide, unbelieving eyes staring at her, and what can she do but put a finger to her lips and walk over to join them both?
It's not at all like she daydreamed, kissing them both. It's better.
