Yuffie couldn't stop grinning. She'd actually done it! She'd gotten away with almost every piece of materia!

Cloud was such a hoarder, especially where equipment and materia were concerned; her pockets were full, and she had a huge bag wrapped up in her arms full of the rest. It was amazing she didn't explode as she ran, with everything clinking together. She knew that materia didn't work that way - it required some kinda connection with a human mind, or something like that - but it still made her a little nervous.

Not nervous enough to stop running, though! Those Shinra guys showing up had been a boon for her, meant she could get further, but she didn't stop until she was safe in Wutai, in her secret room that even her dad didn't know about. She lit a couple of candles and started pulling the materia from her pockets and stuffing it into a hiding place she'd picked out before, just in case someone did find her room.

The polished round shards glittered slightly in the candlelight. They glittered even more in the sun - it was pretty, the way they shone. Like gems, except that they weren't gems, because gems were valuable because they weren't that common. Materia were pretty common these days because of the reactors, but that didn't mean anyone in Wutai had a lot of access, because Shinra didn't let them... so maybe they were valuable after all.

Yuffie wasn't going to worry too much about that, though. They'd found pieces that were rare and special, pieces that they'd found in the rough - Cloud had polished them to fit in their armor himself! They'd even let her use some of them, and they were nice. Wutai would be back to its former glory in no time! She just had to come up with a plan, both to use what she'd found and convince her old man that it was a good idea.

Oh, and to stay away from Cloud, who'd probably come after her. As much as she liked the guy, she couldn't let that get in the way of her country's glory. A princess's life was so hard, sometimes.

Well, the stuff would be safe enough down there. And maybe it would be smarter just to hide. But then again... what fun would that be?
