writing for jan through june 2023

I've actually written a lot this year, which is surprising considering how busy I've been otherwise.

for 100ships I'm officially at 40/100, with two more to add. Table here. I'm definitely going to have to start doing some of the sub-relationships for my poly ships - I've already started on the SeeD polycule with the Squall/Selphie piece, and I definitely want to explore the dyads (I think that's the term) for Aymeric/Estinien/Haurchefant, because there's a lot to unpack there.

(Will I ever start 100fandoms? Honestly, I doubt it. I looked at my entire archived fandom list, including the Yuletide ones, and I'm at less than half that.)

In terms of other past challenges, I managed to write all of the prompts (and then one more) for Multiamory March on polyamships | polyamships, which I was both surprised and pleased by. I think it's the first time I've ever hit all the prompts for that event. And I managed to do each one for a different relationship, just to make things harder on myself.

Also I'm still on track to finish yearoftheotpevent, which would also be pretty nice. (My series for them as well, using Aymeric/Estinien/Haurchefant from FFXIV because they're a favorite of mine at the moment.)

I could update my fandoms and favorites quite a bit lately, and might later. (It is sometimes hard to tell if anyone is seeing the updates.)

Thanks, I'm just trying to keep myself creative. I've started original fiction again recently, although just for fun. (I feel like deciding to not try to publish someday was a fantastic decision for my mental health and desire to write things.)

My book club once had Seanan McGuire as a guest (we read and discussed her book, then had a Zoom call in which she answered questions and talked to us, it was delightful) and someone asked her about her advice for writers. She said "If it isn't really important to you to specifically be traditionally published, just write fanfic, you'll be happier." That is not a paraphrase. I....took it to heart, honestly. I may still want to be published some day? Maybe I'll self pub under this name. Who knows. Regardless. I'm happier in fandom.
