FFVII fanart - Barret/Cloud/Tifa

I found a piece of art I started ages ago and am trying to continue it, and I don't know if I'm getting anywhere or not.

Tifa is my first attempt at trying to shade and be able to remove the dark lines, to make the picture make sense without an outline. I'm currently debating whether or not I should just remove her lips and use the black lines after all. It's one of those situations where I keep prodding at it to try to figure out HOW to shade this, and eventually I'm probably just going to have to stop.

Barret's hands are not to scale in his Remake design and probably not from his original design. His hands are as big as his head; he literally has similar proportions to the male Roegadyn from FFXIV, which makes no sense. Still I think his hands need to be bigger here.
